Common Filtering Issues and How to Fix Them

Filters in SmartProductSorter help you target specific products inside a collection. However, incorrect configuration or mismatched values can cause products to not appear as expected. This guide outlines the most common filtering issues and how to resolve them quickly.

🚫 Issue 1: No Products Are Appearing

Possible Causes:

  • The filter value does not exactly match the product data

  • The condition type is incorrect

  • The product does not meet the filter requirement

How to Fix It:

  1. Double-check spelling (including spaces and capitalization).

  2. Confirm the product actually contains the tag/vendor/type you entered.

  3. Review whether the condition should be:

    • Is instead of Contains

    • Greater than instead of Less than

  4. Run sorting again and refresh the collection preview.

🔤 Issue 2: Spelling or Case Mismatch

Filters depend on accurate product data.

Example:

  • Filter: Vendor is "Vendor A"

  • Actual vendor: "vendoor a"

Even small differences can prevent matching.

How to Fix It:

  • Copy and paste the exact value from the product details in Shopify.

  • Standardize naming conventions across products.

🏷 Issue 3: Tag Does Not Exist on Product

If using a tag-based filter and the tag is missing, the product will not be sorted.

How to Fix It:

  1. Go to Shopify Admin > Products.

  2. Open the product.

  3. Confirm the tag is added correctly.

  4. Save changes and re-run sorting.

🔄 Issue 4: Changes Not Reflecting Immediately

Large catalogs may take a short time to process updates.

How to Fix It:

  • Wait a few minutes and refresh the page.

📌 Issue 5: Expecting Multiple Conditions

SmartProductSorter supports only one filter condition per query.

How to Fix It:

  • Create separate collections for different filtering needs.
