How to Test Your Product Collections Before Publishing

Testing your product collections before making them live ensures a smooth shopping experience for your customers and prevents potential errors. Follow these steps to verify that your collections are set up correctly.

1️⃣ Access Your Product Collections

  1. Go to SmartProductSorter Collections list page in the app.

  2. Locate the collection you want to test.

  3. Click Edit to open the collection details.

2️⃣ Verify Selected Products

  • The Preview pane displays the products currently included in the collection according to your sorting rules.

  • Ensure all intended products are present and correctly arranged.

⚠️ Note: Preview does not show how the collection will appear to customers—it only reflects the selected products and applied rules.

3️⃣ Publish and View as Admin

  1. After verifying products, click Publish to make the collection live.

  2. Go to Products > Collections.

  3. In the upper-left corner, click View to see the collection as it will appear to customers.

Check that product images, titles, prices, and order match your expectations.

4️⃣ Test Sorting and Filters

  • Confirm that your sorting method (Template, Drag & Drop, or Custom) works correctly.

  • Apply any collection filters or segments to ensure products appear as expected.

5️⃣ Check Product Visibility Settings

  • Ensure products are not hidden due to stock, status, or segment rules.

  • Verify out-of-stock products display or hide according to your collection settings.

6️⃣ Test Across Devices

  • View the collection on desktop, tablet, and mobile to confirm layout and navigation are consistent.

7️⃣ Save Changes and Monitor

  • After publishing, monitor the live collection to catch any discrepancies.

  • Make adjustments if products are missing, misordered, or incorrectly filtered.

✅ Best Practices

  • Always test collections after adding new products or changing sorting rules.

  • Keep a simple checklist to ensure all products, filters, and sorting are verified.

  • Communicate with your team when multiple admins manage collections to avoid conflict
